AN EVESHAM opticians has pledged to collect non-perishable items and emergency food supplies for those in need at its local foodbank.
Specsavers, on Bridge Street, will be collecting produce on behalf of Caring Hands in the Vale, encouraging customers to donate tinned and jarred foods, dried pasta, rice, soups, biscuits and other long-life items, to help provide food parcels to people in desperate need.
The Vale of Evesham Christian Centre food bank, which is celebrating its 13th anniversary in June, is an outreach project aiming to support individuals and families in need across the town.
Diane Bennett, community worker for Caring Hands in the Vale said: “We’re delighted the town’s Specsavers will be collecting for us. We rely on the kindness of others and donations from people in the local community, so it’s fantastic to see Specsavers are so keen to get involved.”
Amy Liau, store director of the Bridge Street branch said: “It’s important to recognise there are so many people, even in our locality, who struggle to provide for themselves and for their families. Our commitment is not only to our customers, but to our community.”
