Police crackdown in bid to snare foreign offenders in Evesham

TWO Evesham businesses were subject to police checks as part of a crackdown to snare foreign national offenders.

West Mercia Police, along with immigration officials, attended the car washes on the High Street and Avon Street at about 2pm yesterday afternoon (Tuesday) as part of a pre-planned operation.

However, there were no arrests made.

The National Crime Agency, Gangmasters Licensing Authority and immigration officials also visited the two businesses.




The agencies are working together to tackle Foreign National Offenders operating in the UK as part of Operation Trivium.

A Home Office spokesperson said: “Immigration officials attended as part of a West Mercia Police operation at two car washes in Evesham.


“There were no arrests made.”

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: “Officers from West Mercia Police, along with immigration officials, attended a business on the High Street, Evesham between 2pm and 2:30pm yesterday (May 17) as part of a pre-planned operation.

“A second business on Avon Street was also visited.

“No criminal offences were identified and no further police action was required.

“#OpTrivium involves several agencies – including the National Crime Agency, Gangmasters Licensing Authority, and immigration officials- working together to tackle Foreign National Offenders (FNOs) operating in the United Kingdom.”
