ENVIRONMENT Agency chiefs have lifted a flood warning for the River Avon after levels dropped from their peak at the weekend.

On Sunday (February 7) the river peaked at about 3.1 metres flooding surrounding areas and was over one metre above its typical level.

The flood warning has now been downgraded to a flood alert, meaning flooding is still possible and Vale residents should remain prepared.

Environment Agency chiefs also warned river levels could rise again with more rain predicted over the next few days.

Some roads across the Vale are still closed due to flooding, including the Jubilee Bridge in Fladbury, Brook Lane in Cropthorne and Eckington Bridge.
