EVESHAM moved to the top of Midlands Three West (South) with a 57-5 bonus point win at lowly Harbury on Saturday.

Nine tries were scored by Evesham, whose captain Nathan Chambers said: “It was a good, solid performance.

“We controlled and dictated the game and it was a good workout for us before our pivotal fixture at home to Ledbury on Saturday.

“The team performance was the most impressive aspect of the day with some very well worked tries and phases of play.”

Evesham are now a point above second placed Ledbury with a game in hand and two points above third and fourth placed Old Coventrians and Rugby Lions having played the same number of matches.

Try-scorers for Evesham on Saturday were James Roberts, Ben Harrison, Wilf Watson, Scott Fairfax, Tristan Walsh (2), Ashley Icke, Joe Cafearo and Sam Hopkins, whilst six were converted.
