Saddle up for Cyclefest

Evesham Editorial 28th Aug, 2015 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

VALE residents are being invited to get on their bikes and saddle up for Evesham’s second annual Cyclefest.

The popular event made its debut in 2014 and this year’s event on September 12 and 13 boasts a number of different activities.

The Mountain Bike Challenge takes place all day on Saturday (September 12) at The Valley while on Sunday (September 13) there is the Family Ride, a stunning 20 mile circular route to Pershore and back which sets off at 9.30am and 10.30am.

There is an alternative shorter route of 12 and a half miles for those who do not want to do the full route.

At 2pm there is a three mile Town Ride, which takes in the path along the river to Evesham Sports Club and back.

This ride is more suited to toddlers and others who want a shorter ride but there is an option to do a second lap.

The main Cyclefest activities commence at 11am and run to 4.30 pm, with the Market Place and All Saints churchyard offering something for all the family.

Activities on offer include bikeability, circus skills, pedal powered smoothies, a skateboarding demo, local cycle shops, triathletes, a Wattbike, spinning bikes and cycle related jewellery.

Registration for the Family and Town Rides takes place at the registration desk in the churchyard.

Aspirining photographers are also being sought for a bike-related photo competition with images being displayed in St Lawrence’s Church and prizes for the winner in both the adult and under 16 sections.

Visit www.cycleeveshamvale.org or call Sue Ablett, Cyclefest Chair on 0787 1285606 or e-mail [email protected] for more information on the event and the photo competition.
