VOLUNTEERS at Evesham’s Wartime in the Vale were hailed as heroes after raising more than £1,000 for charity.
Members of the Evesham Sea Cadets, assisted by mascot Hero the Bear and Help for Heroes volunteers, raised an impressive sum of £1,132 for the charity at the family fun military event on Saturday (June 20) and Sunday (June 21).
Ian Baldry, Worcestershire county co-ordinator for Help for Heroes said: “We are most grateful for the ongoing support of the Evesham Sea Cadets.
“In particular our thanks to Chief Petty Officer Keith Field and Petty Officer Stuart Cole for their sterling efforts over the weekend along with the younger cadets.
“Without their support we just wouldn’t have been able to have raised this very respectable sum of money.
“As always our thanks to Paul Valiadis, the show organiser, for inviting us and the members of the public who kindly made a donation.”
