CARING staff at McDonald’s in Evesham raised more than £1,000 for a popular Midlands charity which supports parents and children.

Kind-hearted staff at the Link Road venue raised £1,042 for the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) with a balloon launch last Friday (June 27).

And as well as Deputy Mayor Coun Fred Kaler, the event also welcomed Ella and her son Noah Westwood from Broadway.

Ella and her husband Dan were looked after by the charity’s Birmingham home when Noah was diagnosed with Opsoclonus

Myoclonus Syndrome (OMS).

Their daughter Darcie was not allowed on the hospital ward because she had not had her vaccinations but the couple were given a bed at the home close to Birmingham Children’s Hospital to ensure they were close to Noah.

Chief fund-raiser Melanie Georgovich and restaurant manager Dylan Lee were among those letting the balloons go.

“This was out RMHC fund-raiser for the month of June and we raised £1,042 for the charity.” he said.

“We approached local businesses and customers for balloon sponsorship and our most sizable donation was Evesham United who donated £100.

“Thank you to everyone who took part for their support.”

Visit www.rmhc.org.uk for more information about the charity.
