A COMMEMORATIVE baton passed through Pershore to start celebrations marking the 100th anniversary of the Woman’s Institute.

Two Morgan cars rode in convoy from Upton on Severn to St Andrew’s Hall to celebrate the milestone with Pershore, Evesham and LRS WI’s last Thursday (September 11) at 2.30pm.

More than 200 people turned out in the town to greet the hand over including Robert Speight, Pershore Town Crier, and Tony Rowley, Mayor of the town.

The day also saw musicians attend the hall with refreshments, competitions, boules and croquet taking place.




The conductor’s baton will travel more than 2,500 miles by plane, train and road and will pass through all institutes in the

country, culminating in the 100th AGM at the Albert Hall in London in June next year.
