School floored by donation

PUPILS and teachers at the Vale of Evesham School are the latest to benefit from a kind-hearted town flooring firm’s charitable scheme.

The Four Pools Lane school is the latest to benefit from Karndean Designflooring’s 40 Free Floors for 40 Good Causes appeal.

The school was nominated to receive a free floor as part of the company’s 40th anniversary campaign.

Worth more than £8,000, Karndean has donated and fitted 150 sq meters of its Van Gogh Country Oak in the main corridor.

Joining forces with a local commercial flooring partner, AL Selly Flooring Ltd, Karndean recommended replacing the existing dated carpet with the larger plank design, thicker wear layer and higher slip rating offered by its Van Gogh collection.

“We’ve been desperate to replace the flooring in the school corridor and make the central walkway more inviting for students, staff and visitors.” said headteacher Shani Brough.

“As you can imagine, there’s a lot of regular traffic walking through this area, therefore we needed a flooring product which would withstand the demand but still look beautiful.

“We’re thrilled with our new Karndean floor, it’s not only easy to maintain but also acoustically it’s warmer and softer underfoot, meaning less disruption for students.”

Paul Barratt, managing director of Karndean Designflooring said: “Although our appeal has been making a big difference for various individuals and organisations across the UK, it’s fantastic to give

back to a local school in our town.

“Our Country Oak gives the Vale of Evesham School the authentic rustic appearance of unfinished timbers without the natural drawbacks of real wood.”

Karndean launched its ’40 Free Floors for 40 Good Causes’ appeal in October 2013 in a bid to help local charities and organisations in the USA, UK, Australia and New Zealand.

There will be 15 worthy winners from the UK in total, with five handpicked by Karndean and ten selected from Facebook nominations.
