EVESHAM residents fell silent to pay their respects to soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice during a number of Remembrance events.
The annual Remembrance Day service was held on Sunday (November 9) with councillors, dignitaries and members of the Royal British Legion meeting at the town hall before the service at the newly refurbished Evesham War Memorial in Abbey Park.
And many dignitaries gathered at the landmark again on Armistice Day (Tuesday) for a further service which saw a large number of residents young and old brave the cold weather to pay their respects
This weekend will see the Bengeworth Remembrance Parade and church service on Sunday (November 16).
The parade will form at Bengeworth Club, marching to St Peter’s for a service and then parading back to the club for refreshments.
* STUDENTS and staff at The De Montfort School created a human poppy to show their respect to the soldiers who fell during the First World War.
The Four Pools Road school marked the annual Remembrance commemorations by wearing red and black to create the flower outside on their all-weather pitch.
Sixth Form pupils formed the middle of the poppy by wearing all black while younger students and teachers wore red and black to create the main shape.
Readings of war poetry also took place at the event, which saw students plant paper poppies in selected areas of the school before a representative from each tutor group scattered poppy seeds on a chosen site.
