A PERSHORE student has been drumming up interest after performing with fellow cadets at Portsmouth Docks.

High School pupil Nathan Branchett is a Sergeant in the Pershore (233) Air Cadet Squadron and was chosen from a nationwide list to represent his team in the Air Cadet Organisation National Marching Band.

The Year 11 student joined 62 others at RAF Halton on band camp, before taking part in two performances at Portsmouth Docks by HMS Victory, on Friday, April 18.

The side drummer also performed at Twickenham the following day (Saturday April 19) prior to the rugby match between London Wasps and Gloucester.

Clive Corbett, headteacher, said: “We were lucky enough to go down to Portsmouth to see the two performances and although we are slightly biased, the performance was excellent and drew a good crowd of on-lookers both times.

“Those we spoke to who were not connected with the cadets in any way were all very complimentary about the cadets and their displays.”

Nathan has now been selected to perform at the Kingston Tattoo on May 10 and again at Heathrow Airport, in October, to lead the Dream Flight, a plane carrying terminally ill children to a ‘holiday of a lifetime’, onto the runway.
