VALE of Evesham swimmers Alice Hall, Sophie Pettit and Mollie Cresswell attended the first ever City of Gloucester Swimming Club Sprint Meet at the weekend and returned home with plenty to be positive about for the upcoming open season.

Competing in the 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke, 50m breaststroke, 50m fly and 100m IM, the girls amassed six medals, four personal bests and five 2015 County Qualifying Times between them.

Nine-year-old Mollie of Evesham Swimming Club led the way in the medal haul, taking an incredible five medals from five events – two gold and three bronze.

She produced fantastic swims in the 50m fly (42.48 PB) and the 100m IM (1:34.12) to finish first in both events. Third placed finishes and bronze medals followed in the 50m breaststroke, 50m freestyle and 50m backstroke (43.44 CQT).

Fellow Evesham Swimming Club member, ten-year-old Sophie, competed well in a strong ten-year-old age group category. She started her day off in fine style by taking fourth in her less favoured event, the 50m fly (45.54 PB), before taking second and a silver medal in her more favoured event, the 50m breaststroke (48.16 CQT).

She went on to grab top six finishes in the 50m backstroke (43.54 PB and CQT), 100IM and 50m freestyle.

Sixteen-year-old Alice Hall, of Pershore Swimming Club, swam strongly in all events, setting her standards high early in the season.

Swimming in a challenging 16 and over age group category, Alice set a new PB in the 100m IM (1:19.47) before grabbing two County Qualifying Times for next year in the 50m breaststroke (39.46) and 50m freestyle (31.26). Alice achieved top ten finishes in all events.
