Town remain on course for league and cup success

TEWKESBURY Town boosted their Birdseye Sports Evesham Sunday League Division Two promotion hopes with a convincing 8-0 victory at Ecosamba thanks to goals from Tarling (3), Dyson, England, Keen, Robinson and Hammerson.

This coming Sunday Town are in the GFA Sunday Intermediate Cup final against Leonard Stanley.

In the Evesham Hospital Sunday Minor Cup second round, Cropthorne defeated Quinton on penalties and Evesham United Sunday won 3-1 at Ashton 88 to reach the last eight.

Meanwhile, Mickleton Rangers and Harvington reached the semi-finals with respective 5-2 and 4-1 wins over New Inn Pershore and Dragons.




In Division Three, Stour Excelsior Reserves maintained their good form with a 6-0 home win over Avon Titans thanks to goals from Kemp (2), Hunt (2), Ross and Smith, whilst Bengeworth won 4-2 at Pebworth as Burford, Kendall, Giles and Mason scored for the visitors and Ballard bagged a brace for the hosts.

Sun Inn lifted the GFA Sunday Minor Cup at Stonehouse after defeating Gloucester League outfit Barton Rovers on penalties following a 1-1 draw.


Relegated Bredon finished their difficult Division One season with a 7-1 defeat at Alcester Town as Layton (2), Webb, Dawe, Barchelor, Robin and Mormon scored for the home team.

Pinvin United and visitors Bear drew 4-4 in a match which saw Mark Bellamy net twice for Pinvin and Phil Davis bag a hat-trick for the Bear.

Broadway United defeated visitors Inkberrow 3-2 thanks to goals from Craig and Jason Horsburgh and Burtenshaw, whilst Steele and Harris struck for Inkberrow.

Bretforton Old Boys have been confirmed as champions of Division One.

Evesham WMC and Cider Mill both exited the Evesham Hospital Sunday Junior Cup against Bromsgrove League opponents as the Workies were edged out 2-1 by Rubery in the quarter-finals whilst Cider Mill lost 6-2 to Bartley Green Illey in the second round.

The Bluck Cup final takes place this Sunday (5pm) at Evesham United FC between Sun Inn and Pebworth.
