PERSHORE Town’s much-improved form continued on Saturday as they defeated Southam United 2-0 at the Winstanley King George V Stadium.
The visitors, managed by former Hereford United and Pershore Town defender Quentin Townsend, were deservedly beaten by an impressive Pershore, who had two good opportunities to open the scoring in the first half with efforts from Joe Robinson and Joe Walsh, but they failed to break the deadlock.
Town were the dominant team in the second half and opened the scoring when a defensive mix-up allowed Stuart Hall to place the ball into an empty net from just inside the box.
Town continued to create chances and thoroughly deserved to increase their lead in the 69th minute when Walsh scored with a left-footed drive on the turn into the corner of the net.
Southam’s misery was completed when Kevin Spencer received a red card in the final few minutes of the match.
Fifteenth placed Town, who were due to travel to Cadbury Athletic on Wednesday (March 25), visit Pilkington XXX on Saturday before hosting Studley on Tuesday.
