Top nights of boxing on offer

THE BEST 13 to 15-year-old boxers from across the Midlands will be showcasing their skills in a four-day extravaganza in Evesham later this month.

The De Montfort School Sports Hall will be hosting the Central England Junior BOX CUP competition from Friday, May 22 to Sunday, May 24 and then the grand finals on Saturday, May 30.

Capacity crowds are expected and the event begins with a Night of Championship Boxing on Friday, May 22, with a card featuring several title fights, a middleweight team match and boxers from Worcester, Alcester, Redditch and Droitwich.

Doors open at 7pm, with tickets £15 and ringside tables £250 with waitress service.




The BOX CUP semi-finals for the top Central Area boxers aged 13 to 15 will be held on Saturday, May 23 as well as a Midland versus East Midland Regions Schools team match, more Central England title fights and another showcasing of boxers from the local area.

Doors open at 4pm, with tickets £10 and a family ringside table costing £150.


The following day, the De Montfort School will stage the England Boxing National Schools semi-finals. This event, won in previous years by Joe Calzaghe, Nigel Benn and Prince Naseem Hamed, will bring together the very best 11 to 13-year-old boxers from across the country.

Boxing will take place over two rings. Doors open at 1pm, with tickets £10.

The Central England Junior BOX CUP Grand Finals will then be held on Saturday, May 30. The Midlands will also face the East Midlands in another regional team match and there will be yet more Central England title fights.

Doors open at 4pm, with tickets £10 or family ringside £150.
