THE JUNIOR Club Championships – the most prestigious competition within the junior golfing calendar – took place at Broadway Golf Club at the weekend.

Played over 36 holes, the Medal competition was a real test of resilience and, showing his true championship quality, was juniors captain Kieran Sutton, who posted a magnificent 141 gross to secure a comfortable victory on the day.

Taking a commendable second place was Will Icke who achieved a superb 153 gross, leaving Jamie Andrew to finish in a well deserved third place on countback.

Meanwhile, the Tony Sansone Mixed Greensomes Stableford got underway.

The trophy was donated in 2005 by Ann, in memory of her late husband Tony, a former member of the club. The competition was played on a cool but fine afternoon, leaving conditions ideal for some excellent scoring.

Proud recipients of the trophy were winning pair Mark and Andi Stedman who brought in an incredible 38 points to take the lead position from runners-up Lin and Mike Everitt, who achieved an impressive 35.
