Sun shines as gala attracts top field

THE POPULAR annual gala organised by Littleton Bowling Club was played very competitively on Sunday between 20 teams who came from New Zealand, Scotland and many of the local clubs.

Virtually the whole of the day’s play was in beautiful sunshine and the green bowled really well.

The 20 teams were divided into two sections, with the winner of each playing for the top prize of £200.

The winner of section one were a team from Aston Somerville skipped by Brenda Kendrick and their opponents were a team from Barbourne, Worcester, skipped by Hew Roberts, and it was the latter who came out on top after the prescribed ten ends.

Third position was taken by a team skipped by Tony Guy who defeated the rink skipped by Mike Laight.

The gala can only take place with the help of sponsors such as Bolstrode Kennels, Pete Bott Skips, Dawn Foods, Lemon Grass, Philip Tomlins, Avonmore Sports Surfaces, Inn Express, Karndean Floorings, Fairview Builders Supplies and Fred Winter (Jack High) Insurance and the club is extremely grateful for their support.

If you would like to have a go at bowls come up to the club on the Recreation Field at South Littleton on a Wednesday night or ring 01386 830198 and leave a message if there is no answer.
