Stour continue impressive start to top flight life

STOUR EXCELSIOR have settled comfortably into life in Birdseye Sports Evesham Sunday League Division One and they moved into third place with an excellent 2-1 win at Tewkesbury side WMK.

Lancett scored for WMK but Wilsby and Hince struck for the Shipston side to seal maximum points.

Will Gayton hit four goals and Luke Richardson also scored for Bretforton Old Boys as they edged out visitors Pinvin United 5-4 in a thriller despite goals from Bellamy (2), Lamb and Bulford for Pinvin.

Evesham WMC and Fladbury Athletic reached the last 16 of the WFA Sunday Junior Cup with 6-0 and 4-2 wins over St John’s and Malvern Rangers respectively, but Bear were beaten 4-0 by Worcester side WCT Youth Raiders.




In Division Two Offenham Rovers came from 2-0 down to earn a 3-3 draw against visitors AC Olympia thanks to a hat-trick from Burrows, whilst Elliott (2) and White scored for Olympia.

Alderton and visitors Mickleton Rangers produced a thrilling 4-4 draw with Stocks (2), Baker and Charlton on the mark for the hosts and Rangers scoring through Collins (2), Moore and Manktelow.


Ecosamba moved within three points of the top of Division Three following a comfortable 8-2 win at Broadway United Reserves in which Watts scored five goals for the Bishops Cleeve side, whilst Inkberrow did likewise as they won 8-1 at Sun Inn as Walker (3), Griffiths (2), Brant (2) and Sheen got amongst the goals.

Badsey Recreation are fourth in the table following a 5-1 home victory over Stratford United featuring goals from Steward, Badham, Proctor, Bishop and Spencer.

Leaders Tewkesbury Town dropped their first Division Four points of the season as they were held 2-2 at bottom club Stour Excelsior Reserves who in turn earned their first point. Tarling scored twice for Town and Jewitt and Gregg netted for Stour.

Five Evesham league clubs reached the third round of the WFA Sunday Minor Cup. Bredon were 19-3 winners against Forest Rangers as Jake Petitt scored 11 times, whilst Stuart Reading scored twice for Cider Mill as they defeated neighbours Bengeworth 4-2.

Colwall hit two for Cropthorne as they sunk Ambi Allsports 6-0, whilst Tesco United recorded an 8-0 win over Martley Spurs. Ruby Jacks are through having received a walkover.
