PARISH GAMES

PARISHES are now starting to reach the semi-final stage in some of the knockout events in the Wychavon Parish Games.

In the ladies’ darts, sponsored by Piesse of Piddle, Broadway will play Wyre Piddle, while Hill & Moor will play Sedgeberrow.

In the men’s darts, sponsored by Pete Bott Skips, Harvington will play Pinvin while Bretforton will play Drakes Broughton.

The crib, sponsored by Broadway Parish Council, dominoes, sponsored by Glassier Windows, and pool, sponsored by Kanes Foods, are all at the quarter-final stage, as is the skittles, sponsored by Worcester Produce.

CYCLING

EVESHAM Wheelers hosted their annual Reach for the Skies event on Sunday.

This is a challenging 22-mile ride starting and finishing at Ebrington and featuring four ‘character-building’ hills – Dover’s Hill, Willersey, Bakers and Larkstoke – and some thrilling descents.

On a fine and sunny day, 30 riders started the event and a new fastest time record was set by Wheeler Tim Webb, whose season’s racing miles helped get him home in just 1hr, 10mins, with most riders completing the course in around 1hr, 20mins.

In the recent Porlock Hill Climb event, junior member Tom Perry finished fourth in the junior category. His time of 19.48 was only just off the winning time of 19.10 – a great result as it was his first hill climb event.

He improved further just two weeks later by finishing second in his age group at the Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb.
