Runners prove their staying power

Evesham Editorial 24th Jun, 2015 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

EVESHAM Vale Running Club and Cotswold Running members competed impressively in a 24-hour running event at Endure 24.

Eighteen members of EVRC took part in the 24-hour endurance race of which the aim is simple – to run as many five-mile laps as you can in 24 hours.

Runners can either enter as teams, pairs or solos and teams run in relay style. EVRC members formed two teams – one female and one mixed team – and four solo runners.

Most of the participants had never taken part in an endurance or ultra event before and, although not everything went to plan for some runners, most had a great weekend and surpassed what they thought possible.

The EVRC ladies team placed fourth in their category and solo runners Matthew Manners, Glenn Pardoe and Helen Manners achieved 85, 65 and 60 miles respectively.

Between all members they ran 570 miles over the 24 hours.
