ROB Lord and Nigel Bird were the winners as the top six teams in the fourth round of Broadway GC’s Men’s Winter League all finished with the same points tally.
Despite a very damp and dreary start to the day when teams began their Fourball Better Ball contest, the conditions didn’t appear to worry the top six teams who all came in with an incredible 43 points.
Lord and Bird took victory on countback, with James Covill and Joe Williams second.
Father and son pairing Bill and Matt Sollis were third, Jamie Andrew and Simon Jennings fourth, leaving Anthony Hale and Will Icke and Kenny Campbell and Guy Madgwick to take the final two positions.
The teams now have to wait until the New Year for round five to resume their battle for top spot.
Lyn Chambers, Helen Perry and Juliet Bourne took first place when Broadway GC’s Ladies played their Festive Three Ball Alliance.
Enjoying the mild and dry weather and making the most of the superb conditions, the trio had a fabulous winning score of 36 points, with two scores to count on each of the nine holes played.
They finished a single point ahead of second-placed trio Linda Carruthers, Rachel Rigg and Annabelle Carter.
Third and fourth positions were decided on countback with the teams of Pat Green, Hazel Balding and Frances Friend and Esther Pettitt, Rita Harrison and Alison Hill both scoring a well-deserved 32.
