Pershore Ladies 4 Evesham & Badsey Ladies 0
Worcestershire League Division One
PERSHORE Ladies took the spoils in Saturday’s local derby as they built on a strong start and did not let Evesham back into the match.
Accurate passing through midfield saw Kate Adams take the ball around the Evesham keeper to slot home the opening goal and five minutes later Adams struck again in almost identical fashion to double her side’s lead.
Excellent midfield work from Dani Cook, Nicki Sheppard and Heidi Deacon kept Evesham running in circles and, as their heads dropped, a pick-up on the post from Deacon’s cross saw Claire Chadwick score a third goal.
Evesham secured a couple of short corners but superb keeping from Cat Pinney kept them at bay, whilst in defence Sam Witheford, Emily Capaldi and Amanda Barnes pushed forward to support the team.
Another fine cross from Emma Gardner found Zoe Nicholson and she slotted home a fantastic fourth goal to put the icing on the cake for Pershore.
Pershore were unlucky not to take six points over the weekend as they were beaten 4-3 in Sunday’s rearranged fixture at Harborne 4ths.
Saturday’s efforts had clearly taken their toll on the Pershore girls, for whom Chadwick created some fine chances and scored twice whilst Sheppard bagged their third goal.
Pershore are in mid-table with three matches remaining, the first of which takes them to Stourport 3rds on Saturday.
PERSHORE men were beaten 6-3 at leaders Old Wulfrunians in West Midlands Division One. The visitors’ goals were scored by Tony Handley (2) and Gareth Rushton.
The 2nds were edged out 3-2 by visitors Droitwich in a see-saw West Midlands Division Two encounter in which Ed Deacon and Ali Sanderson scored for the hosts.
