PERSHORE maintained their winning start to the Birmingham League Division Three season with a 147-run victory at Lichfield on Saturday.
The Plums are now joint top with Fordhouses with 40 points from two matches heading into Saturday’s trip to Brewood.
Having won the toss and decided to bat, Pershore posted 228-9 off their 50 overs thanks largely to a second-wicket partnership of 92 between Adam Wiffen (86) and Joe Taylor (40), before Matthew Brace provided some late impetus with an unbeaten 21 off 12 balls.
The Lichfield reply began in steady if unspectacular fashion as Stuart Fielding (28) and Elliott Lawley (13) put on 42 for the first wicket before Taylor Pugh began his demolition of the batting order as he took 7-17 off nine overs to leave the hosts in ruins.
Lichfield were dismissed for just 81 in the 32nd over as Brace chipped in with a couple of wickets to leave Pershore delighted as they headed back to Worcestershire.
