Pershore 12 Coventrians 5

Midlands Four West (South)

PERSHORE produced a second half comeback to get their league campaign off to a winning start on Saturday.

The visitors led 5-0 at the break but the hosts hit back as forwards Matt Baker, captain Luke Hardiman and man of the match Damien May impressed.

From a lineout on the Coventrians try line, the Pershore pack drove over for May to score out wide, although the conversion just missed.

With ten minutes remaining and the score 5-5, the Pershore forwards drove well up the middle of the pitch and the ball was spun wide to Ash White, who rounded his man, chipped and regathered the ball, only to be held up on the line.

However, Stef Steveley was in straight away to rip the ball clear and score his debut try before the conversion was made by Tom Hayes.

Pershore visit Coventry Welsh on Saturday.
