A PACKED field turned out at Broadway Golf Club to compete in the prestigious Ladies Centenary Trophy, which was presented in 1995 to mark 100 fabulous years of golf at the club.
Those out at the front of the field experienced very wet conditions but after the damp start some late sunshine soon dried the course, leaving the ladies with some exceptional playing conditions.
Chris Moulder took full advantage to bring in a magnificent score of 39 points as she secured an easy victory. Close behind was Rosemary Tomlinson who took second place with an excellent 36, leaving Sue Barker to take third on countback.
Also during the week, 60 of Broadway’s men came out to play in their midweek Medal competition. Conditions were good and the course played well as Paul Owens took the lead and brought in a resounding win with an outstanding 64 nett.
Martin Dore earned second position with an excellent 66, also achieving lowest gross with 75. Taking third place in the men’s match was Ollie Storrer with 66 nett on countback.
Barb Buggin was champion for the ladies on the same day. As a relative newcomer to the game, she did exceptionally well to bring in a superb 77 nett.
