Martial arts aces rack up the honours

IT HAS been raining silverware for Evesham Martial Arts in recent weeks.

Over the last two weekends the professional martial arts studio – based above Amber Cafe Bar in the town centre – recently had fighters competing in the English Championships in kickboxing and taekwondo.

A team of around 20 students aged between four and 40 competed at the UITF English Championships in Derby and brought home with them three bronze, six silver and an amazing 14 gold medals.

Competitors from the club’s ‘Wolf Cub’ class for kids aged between four and seven, as well as the junior class for eight to 11-year-olds, entered their first ever tournament and head instructor Ben England was very proud, saying: “To step on a tournament square in front of hundreds of people takes tremendous courage, no matter your age or experience, and I couldn’t be prouder of the entire club, irrespective of our incredible medal haul.”

The weekend before, three of the club’s most experienced fighters stepped into the ring at the WKA English Kickboxing Championships and secured four title belts.

Chris Owen won the U18 60kg division belt, his brother Daryl won the -70kg belt and also stepped up to win the -75kg on the same day, whilst England won the -65kg division.

Evesham Martial Arts offers classes for kids aged four and above in various martial arts. For further information visit www.eveshammartialarts.co.uk or call Ben England on 07585 664286.
