THERE were storm clouds looming as 67 of Broadway Golf Club’s ladies stepped out on Ladies’ Captain’s Day to play in the 3-Ball Alliance.
Despite a scattering of showers, spirits remained high – particularly when ladies passed through the ‘halfway house’ and were greeted with a glass of Pimms and many other goodies kindly provided by Ann Fairbairn, Broadway’s 2014 ladies’ captain.
At Ann’s request, all had played in red in support of her chosen charity – Birmingham Children’s Hospital Renal Unit – which benefited to the tune of £160 raised on the day.
Amongst the many prizes were some of the most beautiful pieces of embroidery art which Ann herself had spent many hours producing.
Pictured here displaying their prized awards are winners of the competition – with a superb 77 points – Nadine Simpkin, Pat Beaman and Frances Friend.
Runners-up with an excellent 76 points were Henrietta Cooke, Lin Everitt and Pauline O’Hagan and taking a well deserved third place on countback were Jude Vidler, Janet Sandalls and Margaret Riley.
Afterwards, Ann invited everyone to join her for a wonderful tea, which provided a perfect end to what had been a thoroughly enjoyable day.
