Joan takes the reins as Evesham's ladies' captain

NEW Evesham Golf Club ladies’ captain Joan Hunt marked her birthday in style by hitting three perfectly straight tee shots down the first fairway as she drove in as the new women’s skipper on Tuesday.

There were 35 ladies waiting along the fairway to see who would win the prizes and then it was on to a shotgun start for a ‘Par’ competition, which took place in the most wonderful warm sunshine.

The course looked beautiful lined by snowdrops and daffodils and the swans on the river. Spring work had started on the greens and putting became very interesting due to the tining!

The winner of Division One with a score of +5 was Ruth Masters and runner-up was Mel Evans with +1.

In Division Two a score of +2 won the honours for Sheila Crane and runner-up was Jill Cleary with -1.

In Division Three a score of +3 clinched top spot for Dee Machin and runner-up was Pat Saville with -1.
