OLIVER FARRELL was crowned Evesham Golf Club’s men’s champion as he secured victory in the annual Club Championships at a warm and breezy Craycombe Links course.

It was no surprise England international Farrell was victorious as the 18-year-old from Drakes Broughton secured the title with an excellent score of 142 after his two rounds.

Barry Saggers claimed the runner-up spot with a combined score of 163.

The competition was doubled with a best nett prize for the Frank Swan Trophy and this proved to be a much tighter affair in which Steve Protherough came out on top with a nett 141 off his handicap of five, edging out Paul Sharp (11) by one shot.

Results: Club Championships – 1st Oliver Farrell 141; 2nd Barry Saggers 163; 3rd Steve Wood 166; 4th Paul Callaghan 166.

Frank Swan Trophy – 1st Steve Protherough (5) 141; 2nd Paul Sharp (11) 142; 3rd Russell Leeming (12) 143; 4th Lewis Ridley (13) 144.
