Shipston 7 Evesham 46

Midlands Three West (South)

EVESHAM secured a fine victory at Shipston in their final game of 2015 on Saturday to move within two points of leaders Old Coventrians who were held to a draw at Old Wheatleyans.

Always a tricky opponent, the Warwickshire side have proved to be a tough nut to crack on home soil but great support play, clinical handling and mature game management allowed Evesham to run in seven tries against just the one from Shipston.

Man of the match Ben Harrison and Joe Cafearo scored twice, whilst Josh Sands, Dan Humpston and Matthew Watson also crossed the line.

Michael Harris slotted over four conversions and one penalty kick.

Evesham sit third in the table at the halfway point of the season – level on points with second placed Ledbury – which is a remarkable effort from the young side who have won eight, drawn two and lost one of 11 league matches this season.

The Vale side boast the best defensive record in the league having conceded just 77 points, whilst scoring 299.

In addition to this, Evesham are 15 months unbeaten at home and have also progressed in both the RFU Senior Vase and the North Midlands Senior Plate competitions.
