Evesham's Seniors Championship goes to the wire

THIRTY-SIX holes of Medal golf off the white tees spread over two days was the challenge which faced Evesham Golf Club seniors in this year’s Seniors Championship.

Fortunes predictably fluctuated over the two days as in some cases promising first round scores were undone by a poor second round and vice versa, but in the end it was consistent play and scoring over the two rounds that was the key to success.

The Bob Diffin Trophy for the best gross score was won by John Richards with rounds of 84 and 80 (164), on countback from runner-up Alan Askew with 82 and 82 (164). Malcolm Boscott was third with 85 and 81 (166).

In the best nett competition for the Wilson Jug, rounds of 73 and 67 (140) saw Tony Fawcett lift the trophy on countback from runner-up Askew with 70 and 70 (140). Richards was third with 73 and 69 (142).
