Evesham Editorial 15th Jul, 2015 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

SEVERAL Evesham gymnasts competed for the county at the first four-piece West Midlands Gymnastics Championships held at the University of Worcester, where the gymnasts faced a fresh challenge and achieved amazing results.

The Vale youngsters were representing Worcestershire Gymnastics Academy which sent six teams to compete on floor, vault, high bar and trampette, with the top three scores counted. All the gymnasts completed very tidy routines, giving the club five team gold medals and trophies and a silver medal place.

The squad also achieved 11 individual medals as Evesham gymnasts Callum Braathen, Ben Harvey and Alice Dankenbring all won gold and Sophie Taylor and Toby Atkin clinched silver medals in what is quite possibly the club’s best medal haul to date.

Gymnasts from the club, based in Stock Wood near Inkberrow, competed in team under 11 intermediate mixed (gold), under 11 advanced boys (silver), under nine beginner boys (gold), under nine advanced girls (gold), under 13 intermediate mixed (gold) and over 16 intermediate mixed (gold).

The gymnasts came from all over the county to represent Worcestershire at these championships and gave an amazing account of their ever-growing progress.
