EVESHAM U13s are celebrating after being crowned 2014 Cotswold Hills League champions.
The Vale youngsters finished top of their South Division Cotswold Hills Junior U13s (pairs) table, losing only one game, before completing a fantastic season by beating Earlswood U13s – who came top of the North Division – in a pulsating cup final on Sunday morning at Evesham CC.
Evesham batted first and scored a challenging total of 272-5 in their allotted 16 overs thanks largely to an outstanding innings of 39 not out by George Kirby.
Earlswood responded well and fought hard against an accurate Evesham bowling attack, for which Jake Edwards and Joe Cook took three and two wickets respectively, ably supported by some excellent ground fielding.
Earlswood inched ever closer to the target and in a dramatic last over Evesham claimed a decisive wicket as Earlswood fell just short of the total at 265-9.
Evesham U13s captain Toby Turner was presented with the cup in front of an enthusiastic home crowd.
