BROADWAY Golf Club’s ladies competed in the third round of their Winter League contest as the Foursomes match challenged players to improve their position in the league table.

Biting cold temperatures made conditions difficult and the scores brought in reflected this.

Over the 16-hole competition Juliet Enderby and Veronica Rudd fought hard to achieve first place with a well deserved 25 points.

Maggie McDivitt and Elizabeth Milnes-James did well to take second place with 24 points, leaving June Griffin and Pam Hooper to finish third on countback.

Sonia Ward and Brenda Whittingham came fourth with a well earned 23 points and the ladies now look forward to the new year when they play their fourth round Foursomes.

Also recently, the fourth round of the Men’s Winter League was being played and, after a very damp start, weather and conditions improved, leaving the opportunity for some commendable scoring.

Taking first position in the Better Ball contest were Glyn Jones and Mark Pritchard who came in with an excellent 45 points.

Also scoring 45 but finishing second on countback were Ollie and Stuart Storrer. Third were Keith Burton and Barrie Marcroft and fourth were David Drinkwater and Brian Wright.

Round five’s Better Ball competition takes place on January 4.
