Broadway ladies tuck into a Christmas treat

THE FINAL major event of the year took place for Broadway Golf Club’s ladies’ captain Debbie Donoghue as 96 ladies gathered for their 2015 Christmas lunch on a day when spirits were high and the atmosphere was fantastic.

As ever, Jon Hawthorne and all at Fayreways Catering put on an exceptional feast and the ladies enjoyed a festive banquet which culminated in the presentation of the cheque to the lady captain’s charity, the Spinal Muscular Atrophy Trust.

The charity does incredible work into the research and development of a cure into this terrible genetic neuromusclular disease.

Mary Boullin from the trust was present to thank all at Broadway Golf Club and to receive the donation on the charity’s behalf.

Donations were achieved through various events from raffles and sponsorship and, for the first time in ten years, Broadway hosted an open charity bridge drive.

The year then ended in spectacular form with a Christmas bazaar which was staged by the ladies of Broadway and brought in an additional sum of £200 on the day.

Debbie Donoghue was absolutely delighted to announce that, through the generosity of all of Broadway’s members and visiting golfers, she was able to present a cheque for an incredible £3,700 and, with further donations still coming in, that figure will top £4,000 by the end of the year.

EIGHTEEN Evesham Golf Club ladies braved the gales for a 12-hole Stableford on Tuesday and the winner was captain Joan Hunt with 22 points and runner-up was Sandie Insall with 20 points.
