BROADWAY Golf Club’s ladies have had a very busy time of things, participating in both their own club matches and in national competitions.
At home, 50 ladies participated in their 3-Ball Winter Alliance on a day when the course was playing exceptionally well and the weather was unexpectedly kind.
With two scores to count over the 16-hole competition, some magnificent scores were achieved, but nobody could touch winners Pat Righton, Nadine Simpkin and Linda Carruthers who stormed into first place with an superb 71 points.
Taking second place with an excellent 69 points were Jennifer Brindley, Wendy Hicks and Kate Bellamy and in third on countback were Chris Parkinson, Alison Hill and Sonia Ward.
Coming in with a well earned 68 were fourth placed Hazel Balding, Brenda Whittingham and Carol Leng.
Earlier in the week it was the first round of the Mail on Sunday, National Golf Club Classic in which Broadway’s team of five travelled to Naunton Downs in Gloucestershire to begin their fight for a position in round two.
All matches were extremely tough, with the Naunton team attempting to take full advantage of home turf.
Broadway battled on, however, and brought in a well deserved 3-2 win to take them through.
