Bretforton Old Boys are leading the way

BRETFORTON Old Boys have taken command of the Birdseye Sports Evesham Sunday League Division One title race after recording a 4-1 win at Pinvin United.

The teams were level at the break before three second half goals saw Old Boys home. Gilbert, Brown, Gayton and Beddoes scored for Old Boys and Izod netted for Pinvin.

Champions Evesham WMC took the local honours against Bear as goals from Dixon, Iorns and Grady secured a 3-1 victory over the visitors, for whom Cloke scored.

Jackson Fairfield defeated Bredon 3-0 with goals from Sutton, Heritage and Tustin, whilst Matt Layton struck twice for Alcester Town in their 2-1 local derby win over visitors Inkberrow, for whom Steele scored.




A second half goal from Smith was enough to earn Stour Excelsior the points with a 1-0 success at Cider Mill.

Division One’s Broadway United reached the last eight of the Evesham Mechanical Services Knockout Cup with a 4-0 victory over Division Two outfit Mickleton Rangers as Jason Horsburgh and Sam Hopkins both netted twice.


Alderton moved back to the top of Division Two with a hard earned 3-2 win at Cropthorne in which Greaves, Charlton and Turner scored for Alderton and Lettersee struck twice for the home team.

Tewkesbury Town are third following a 4-0 home victory over Charlton Old Boys in which Matt Tarling scored twice for Town.

Doubles from Davies and Woodfield helped fourth placed Harvington win 4-1 at Badsey Recreation, whose goal was scored by Andrew.

New Inn Pershore and visitors Ecosamba played out a thrilling 4-4 draw which saw all the goals arrive in an action-packed first half.

Smith (2), Francum and Miller scored for New Inn and Ecosamba were on target through Barton (2), Meah and Rahman.

Louis Sone scored twice for Evesham United Sunday as they defeated visitors Broadway United Reserves 5-2.

Division Three leaders Quinton won 3-2 at Stratford United thanks to James Drinkwater’s treble, which just got the better of Dixon’s brace for the hosts.

Second placed Sun Inn, with valuable games in hand, defeated Pebworth 2-0 as Adam Collins scored twice, whilst Dragons are fourth following a 5-2 home victory over Avon Titans courtesy of goals from Herborn, Stride, Lowe, Lane and Wicks, with Titans netting through Clutterbuck and Rushton.

Stour Excelsior Reserves produced an excellent performance to ease past visitors Ashton 88 with a 7-1 success. The Shipston side’s goals came from Venditto (3), Smith (2), Bocock and Grace.

Bengeworth were made to work hard for a 3-1 triumph at Ambi Allsports thanks to goals from Iorns, Mason and Kendall.
