It’s a breeze for Evesham ladies

THEY may have been faced with the remnants of Storm Jonas, but there was no doubting the determination of the Evesham Golf Club ladies when they competed in the Nora Olsen Foursomes on Tuesday.

The golfers could hardly stand up, let alone keep a ball straight down the fairway, but they battled on and the winning pair with 17 points were Elaine Boscott and Angela Fletcher who were presented with their silver cups later in the evening at the ladies’ AGM.

Captain Joan Hunt opened the evening with a wonderful presentation of a cheque for £1,454 to her charity – The Women’s Breast Cancer Support Group – which offers help to Worcestershire hospitals and nurses.

Business was attended to and the new committee voted in. At the end of the AGM Joan handed over the reins to new captain Conryn Abbott whose first task was to thank outgoing captain Joan for the superb work she has done all year.

Conryn’s charity for the year will be Sight Concern – which helps people affected by sight loss in Worcestershire – and she will be welcoming blind golfer Shirley Sheridan to a charity brunch on February 11 at 11am.

If anyone would like to come and hear what an inspiration Shirley is, then please feel welcome to attend the event at Craycombe Links.
