A QUINTET of Bredon Hill Middle School girls produced impressive performances when they competed at the 35th English Schools’ Athletic Association Cross Country Cup Final at Beauchamp Middle School in Bedford on Saturday.
The Bredon Hill youngsters were in action in the Junior Girls (years seven and eight) category and were proud to be in attendance, particularly as BHMS had never qualified at this level before and had to pre-qualify at county level in Bromsgrove and regional level in Warrington to secure their place at the finals.
Some 427 junior schoolgirls teams entered this competition throughout England and BHMS made it to the last 25 teams to be able to take their place in the final.
The scores of the first four girls in each team count and they ran 2.4km over an undulating and often muddy cross country course.
There were 145 runners in the race and the BHMS results were: Susie Hoare (37th, 09:44); Lottie Roberts (44th, 09:46); Satara Ferreira (50th, 09:49); Jess Rew (113th, 10:30); Martha Bradley (145th, 12:15).
All of the girls did the school proud, especially Rew and Bradley who sustained nasty spike injuries so early on but continued running.
