Badsey Rec book place in final

DIVISION Three outfit Badsey Recreation upset Division One’s Eckington 4-3 to reach the Birdseye Sports Evesham Sunday League Express-Funding Mick Godwin Cup final.

Badsey Rec are one of the longest serving teams in the league, but this will be only their second appearance in an internal cup final.

Banning and Steward both netted doubles to set up a final against the Bear. Eckington scored through Warren (2) and McElroy.

A goal in each half from Meah and Newman was enough to see Bishops Cleeve-based Ecosamba reach the Bluck Cup final at the expense of Harvington as a 2-0 victory booked a clash with Inkberrow at Evesham United FC this coming Sunday (2pm).

Division Three runners-up Inkberrow recorded a 7-0 home win over Sun Inn with goals from Lewis Sheen (3), Griffiths (2), Walker and K Sheen.

The Division One programme closed with Broadway United defeating visitors Stour Excelsior 3-0 thanks to goals from Jason Horsburgh (2) and Cooper to end a disappointing campaign for the home side.

Division Four champions Tewkesbury Town celebrated in style with a 7-0 home victory over Pebworth, whilst third placed Charlton Old Boys defeated visitors Dragons 6-1 as Andy Clements scored a hat-trick and Dickenson, Clark and Woodman also netted for the hosts, who could even afford to miss two penalties.

This sets up a promotion decider for Charlton Old Boys, who must beat second placed visitors Harvington in the sides’ final league match on April 15 in order to deny the latter runners-up spot.
