Alcester Town cruise to seven-goal win in Evesham Sunday League debut

Division One new boys Alcester Town kicked off the new Birdseye Sports Sunday League with an emphatic 7-1 win against much-fancied Bear.

Six second-half goals secured the three points, with Richardson (2), Dance (2), Parker, Hoskins and Layton scoring for Alcester, Davis replied for Bear.

Jamie Clarke opened up with a hat-trick for Bretforton Old Boys in their4-2 win at Jacksons Fairfield. Harris added a further goal with Jacksons replying through Scrivens and Jinks.

Champions Evesham WMC got off to a poor start losing 3-1 at home to Pinvin Utd for whom Bellamy and Haynes were on target, while three first-half goals from Cooper, Horsburgh and Thomas proved enough for Broadway United to overcome Cidermill 3-1. Kerr netted a consolation goal,




Stour Excelsior recorded a five-goal win at Bredon with goals from Johnson (2), Shurmer, Caswell and Featherstone.

Division Two newcomers New Inn Pershore enjoyed a perfect start, defeated neighbours Cropthorne 5-1 with goals from Green, Brant, Greenham, Ward and Kelly, whilst Evesham United overcame Tewkesbury Town 6-2, Quirke (2), D Ashby, M Ashby, and Hinks found the net for United, amd Town replied through Keen and Dyson.


Biggest win of the day came from Harvington who hit 12 without reply against Ecosamba, thanks to Philpot (3), Woodfield (3), Sanders (2), O’Connor, Dallway, Handy and Skelley.

Alderton recorded an excellent win at Badsey Recreation with Matt Greaves scoring five goals with further goals from Goodwin, Dawson and Wellington. Doubles from Mills and Moore helped Mickleton Rangers overcome Tesco Utd, Matt Tye added a fifth with Colston and Stevens replying for Tesco.

In Division Three, Bengeworth put seven past newcomers Avon Titans, with Kendall (3) and Shoots (2) were amongst the scorers,

Stour Excelsior Res got off to a good start with a four-goal win over Pebworth with goals from Halford, Ross, Bowcock and Venditto.

Davies (2), Parry and Roberts were on target for Winchcombe side Sun Inn, visitors Stratford United replied with a Hammocks effort. Ruby Jacks won the local derby at Ambi Allsports, Henry Woods (3), Nevin, Miller and Eddy scored for the pub side, Ambi replied with a Booth treble.

James Drinkwater hit a brace to give newcomers Quinton an opening day win at Dragons whilst Ashton recorded a 3-2 win on their return to the league. Jenkins, Charman and White scored for Ashton, opponents Fortis replying through Pollaci and Saunders.
