TK Maxx reveal plans to open Evesham store

RETAIL giant TK Maxx is planning to open a store in Evesham after signing up to join Aldi at the redeveloped R Sinclair Transport site, the Observer can reveal.

The home and clothing retailer have snapped up a 10,000 sq ft unit on the Davies Road site, just months after it was confirmed Aldi would also be opening a second store there.

Helical Retail are behind the plans to redevelop the current R Sinclair premises, and a planning application has already been submitted to Wychavon District Council.

The family run haulage firm are hoping to relocate to Vale Park, but the plans are dependent on Wychavon planning chiefs approving Helical’s application.

As well as the new Aldi and TK Maxx stores, a third 13,000 sq ft unit is also up for grabs- with the third name expected to be announced in the next few months.

Sue Maguire, spokesperson for Helical Retail, said: “We can confirm that TK Maxx will be taking a 10,000 sq ft unit with a 10,000 sq ft mezzanine floor, the majority of which will be used for trading.

“This sort of space simply doesn’t exist in Evesham currently, so it is great news for the town.

“Indeed, it is only possible within this scheme which already includes the 19,000 sq ft Aldi store.

“Helical hope to secure planning consent within the next couple of months, after which they can progress the relocation of R Sinclair.

“The relocation of R Sinclair Transport to Vale Park will only happen if this application is approved hence, if consent is granted, the project will secure the future of R Sinclair Transport within Evesham and afford them the ability to expand their operation in due course.

“It will also result in significant local employment opportunities both within the new R Sinclair Transport facility at Vale park and the retail development at Four Pools.”
