STAFF at two Evesham supermarkets will be swapping food for football in the annual Retail Challenge Cup.
Morrisons staff will come up against Tesco’s finest this Sunday (August 7) in the special charity match to raise funds for St Richard’s Hospice.
The match has been played each year since 1998, when Tesco staff member Mark Payne decided to raise money for St Richard’s following the death of his mother, Gill Payne, who was cared for and supported at the hospice.
Vicki Anderson, Evesham’s Tesco Community Champion said: “I’m really proud of Mark as he raises the bar each year with this special community event.”
Raffle prizes at this year’s match include a signed West Bromwich Albion football shirt, two Coventry City tickets, four Worcestershire County Cricket Club tickets, a family day out at Birdland Park and Gardens and Cotswold Wildlife Park, a £30 Marks and Spencer voucher and more.
Tickets for the match which takes place at Evesham United’s The Spiers & Hartwell Jubilee Stadium, cost £2 for adults and £1 for children under 12.
Kick-off is at 6pm.
