BRETFORTON Silver Band is tuning up ready for a series of concerts to celebrate their twinning with fellow musicians from Bavaria.

The two bands have visited each alternatively since 1981 and the group from the village of Musikkappele Lohrieth are flying over from Germany today (Friday) for a weekend of music.

The first concert kicks off at Chapman Court in Pershore tomorrow (Saturday) from 12.30pm to 1.30pm. That evening there will also be a night of music making when Bretforton Silver Band, Alcester Silver Band, Avonbank, Arrow Valley and the band from Musikkappele join forces to create an evening full of brass band music.

Bretforton’s Recreation Ground is hosting the evening concert which kicks off at 6pm where there will be a BBQ and refreshments available.

And on Sunday (October 2) the band from Musikkappele will be performing at The Valley from 11pm to 12pm.

John Wood, Bretforton Silver Band’s conductor, said: “It should be a great weekend and we hope as many people will come and support us in this wonderful celebration.”
