A CYCLING event in aid of restoring Vale churches was hailed a success.
Bishampton resident Martin Dickinson teamed up with Rodney Hodgkins, Peter Chatterton, Bill Ellis, David Miller and Gordon Kingston to take on the annual Ride and Stride event on Saturday (September 12).
The intrepid riders spent six hours travelling across the county covering a distance of 33 miles and visited 13 churches including St. James in Bishampton, St Peter’s in Inkberrow, St Mary Magdalen’s in Himbleton, St Kenhelm in Upton Snodsbury and St Nicholas’ in Pinvin.
The team hope to have raised several hundred pounds in sponsorship between them from the charity bike ride, which will go towards saving historic churches, chapels and meeting houses for future generations, by helping to fund urgent repairs and installation.
War veteran Michael Johnes also took on the Heritage Open Day challenge on his mobility scooter, covering Inkberrow to Pinvin.
