Popular regatta to attract the crowds

THOUSANDS of people are expected to flock to the Vale over the Bank Holiday Weekend to watch the annual Evesham Regatta.

Organised by Evesham Rowing Club, the two-day event will take placeon Saturday and Sunday (May 3 and 4) and is expected to welcomed more than a thousand competitors from many parts of the UK in either one, two, four or eight-man crews.

Last year’s annual event marked the start of the rowing club’s 150th anniversary celebrations and attracted an estimated

12,000 people.




Tomorrow will see the club’s annual regatta before all of the fun of the sprint regatta kicks off a packed Sunday (May 4) of events.

Hundreds of rowers will take to the River Avon for one of the most popular events in the British rowing calendar.


Crowds will be guaranteed an oar-some time with races every few minutes from 9am to 5pm and refreshments will be available throughout the day.
