A GREEN-FINGERED Pershore College student has been selected to take part in the prestigious RHS Young Planting Designer 2016 competition.

Lydia Mackay, a BSc Horticulture student at the college, will have her garden design displayed at the RHS Flower Show Tatton Park from today (Friday) until Sunday (July 24).

The competition aims to find the best emerging green talent and Miss Mackay has been partnered with Ewan Sewell, a finalist from the ‘Young Landscape Contractor 2016’, to create a unique and complete garden for the show.

Miss Mackay said: “It’s a really exciting competition to be involved with, as not only do we get to create the garden at Tatton, but we get expert mentorship too.

“Our garden has a coastal theme which has really suited me and I can’t wait for everyone to see the finished result.”
