Mum's giving children a day to remember

A KIND-HEARTED Badsey mum is launching an action-packed fun day this summer for disabled children.

Tracey Hemming is hosting a ‘Freedom Disco’ fun day on Saturday, July 16 at the village’s The Pub in a Club, where youngsters can enjoy a wide range of activities including races, games, a tombola, raffle and BBQ.

There will also be a special ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ competition and Evesham’s MP Nigel Huddleston will open the fête.

Ms Hemming is also appealing for residents to donate prizes towards the raffle and hopes to raise money for a bouncy castle, as the disco’s funds can’t cover the costs.

She launched the Freedom Discos back in March, after being left disheartened following the closure of Evesham’s Marilyn’s nightclub disco for the disabled.

“Since the disco started we’ve been holding skittles and birthday parties,” said Ms Hemming.

“Just recently we held a 21st birthday party and the boy’s speech thanking us all was so emotional. It made me proud I’d given him in his words ‘the best day of his life’.

“I just want them all to have a lovely fun day,” she added.

The event runs from midday to 5pm and costs £1, which includes food.
