Loved-up couple get married in care home first

LOVE was in the air at an Evesham care home when two residents tied the knot in a ceremony watched by family, friends and staff.

Caring staff at Cavendish Park care home on Offenham Road were able to make one of the resident’s dreams come true in what is believed to be a first for group behind the home.

The Cavendish Park team worked with the family to make sure that everything was perfect for the magical day, from sourcing the bride’s favourite Andre Rieu music for her as she entered, to transforming the bistro into a stunning wedding chapel.

Nothing was left to chance before the ceremony last Wednesday (October 2) as bride Sue and groom Pete delivered their vows.

Not a dry eye was in the house as registrars Samantha Hickey and David Chambers performed the ceremony, which brought people together with a funny and engaging service. Staff even made the cake and provided the balloons for the big day.

The couple were surrounded by their family and friends and following the ceremony the wedding party were treated to a sumptuous wedding breakfast made by the home’s kitchen team.

Manager Dan Bridges said: “I have never had a wedding in any care home I have managed and to be part of this special occasion was just amazing.”

Customer relations manager Mel Hoskins said: “It was such a pleasure to be a part of hosting this wonderful event. It was a great team effort and we wanted to pull out all the stops to make sure Sue and Pete had a magical day.”
