HUNDREDS of Evesham residents celebrated the Queen’s 90th birthday in true style in a right royal party at the Town Hall.

The wet weather didn’t dampen spirits last Sunday (June 12) when 200 people packed out the venue as the town joined in with celebrations around the UK to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s official birthday.

With the Town Hall decked out in Union Jack bunting, party goers enjoyed a picnic feast fit for a Queen as well as fun and games, singing, live music and face painting for the youngsters.

Town councillors Coun Sue Amor and Coun Emma Haynes, who organised the event, said: “What a fantastic event full of team spirit, happiness and good old fashioned song and conversation.

“The weather wasn’t on our side but everyone worked together to set up the Town Hall as the party venue.

“People started arriving at midday and by 1pm we had 200 participants- we were full to overflowing.

“Young and old mixed together and we all had a wonderful time celebrating the Queen’s 90th birthday,” they added.
